Meat imports - Azerbaijan recorded a decline in supply volumes

In the period January-October 2020, meat imports to Azerbaijan amounted to 36.163 thousand tonnes, which is 13.5 percent (5.623 thousand tonnes) less than in the same period in 2019, the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SCC) reported. However, imported meat was paid $ 65.962 million in the ten months of this year, 2.8 percent more than in the same period last year. The main factor behind the increase in the prices of food products on the Azerbaijani consumer market was the import of meat, and more precisely, much higher prices paid to foreign suppliers. Thus, the cost of one kilogram of meat imported to Azerbaijan increased on average from $ 1.53 in the first ten months of 2019 to $ 1.82 in January-October 2020. This is an increase of 19 percent.
