On March 13-19, 2023, in plants monitored under the Integrated Agricultural Market Information System of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the purchase price of live pigs increased. Suppliers for slaughter pigs were paid PLN 8.35/kg, which is 1.5% more than in the previous week and 1% more than a month ago. Livestock was 23% more expensive than in the comparable week of 2022. In the European Union (EC data), the average price of class E pigs for slaughter was EUR 230.67/100 kg of chilled slaughter weight, which is 1% higher than in the previous week. Livestock was 4.5% more expensive than a month ago and 31% more than a year ago. In Poland, the price of pigs for slaughter in this class expressed in the EU currency amounted to EUR 232.64/100 kg and was 1% higher than the EU average price. Higher than in Poland prices for livestock were received by suppliers of e.g. from France by 7%, Germany by 2% and Spain by 3%, and lower - e.g. from Denmark by 23% and the Netherlands by 10%.

Live pig purchase prices Selling prices of pork Following the increase in purchase prices, the price of pork increased. In the third week of March 2023, pork half-carcasses were sold at PLN 12.05/kg, i.e. PLN 0.06/kg more expensive than in the previous week and 1% more than a month ago. Compared to the prices received a year ago, half-carcasses became more expensive by 13%. Beef livestock purchase prices Domestic suppliers for slaughter cattle obtained PLN 10.92/kg compared to PLN 10.91/kg in the previous week. The price of this livestock was 2% higher than a month ago and 4% higher than in the corresponding week of 2022. Selling prices of beef Compensated beef quarters from bulls up to 2 years old were sold at PLN 21.61/kg, ie 2% more expensive than in the previous week, but cheaper by 0.3% than a month ago.
