REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The Ministry of Agriculture asserts that there is no import of medium rice entering Indonesia. All national medium rice needs are met by domestic production, which is projected to reach 34.79 million tons by 2025 according to data from the Central Statistics Agency (BPS). With this achievement, Indonesia is in a medium rice surplus condition, ensuring the national supply is safe and stable.
Head of the Bureau of Communication and Information Services of the Ministry of Agriculture, Moch Arief Cahyono, explained that all rice imports this year are part of the special rice and industrial rice policy based on the commodity balance. This policy ensures that only types of rice not produced domestically or needed as industrial raw materials can enter.
"What the public needs to understand is that there is not a single import of medium rice. Only special needs rice, certain premium rice, and industrial rice enter. It does not affect the consumption of the general public," said Arief.
