Mexico Expects to Export More Mango This Year

The mango season in Mexico is just weeks away from reaching its peak production and, for now, is going strong. Shipments began in spring and are currently 16% higher than at the same time last year. "This was mainly due to weather conditions, as rain did not interfere with the early season fruit," explains Albert Pérez of Continental Fresh. Unless weather phenomena occur in the coming months, this higher volume trend should continue. A total of 99 million boxes are expected to leave Mexico, which would represent an 11% increase compared to last season, when total shipments reached 89 million boxes. Peak season approachesSupply continues to increase, and the bulk of volumes will be available from mid-June to late July.
