The Association of Avocado Producers and Exporting Packers of Mexico (APEAM) reported the formalization of an Agreement of Concertation on Zero Deforestation, signed together with SEMARNAT and PROFEPA, with the objective of reinforcing sustainability in the production of avocados destined for export. The agreement establishes a voluntary model of environmental self-regulation that seeks to ensure compliance with current forestry regulations, while strengthening traceability, legality, and transparency in the origin of the product. The initiative is the result of a technical and institutional process aligned with the agreement published in the Diario Oficial de la Federación on October 24, 2025, which establishes the obligation of no deforestation for agricultural exports.
