Brazilian milk imports experienced a significant increase of 80.7% in October compared to the same period in 2021, as reported by the Milk Intelligence Center (CILeite) of Embrapa Gado de Leite. This surge in imports, along with increased production, led to a 6.5% decrease in the price of milk to producers, with the average price being R$ 2.85 per liter. Despite this, the milk/mixture exchange ratio worsened for cattle raisers, and retail prices for dairy products fell by 2.4% in October. However, over the past year, retail prices rose by 24.8%, exceeding the official Brazilian inflation rate. Exports reached their lowest monthly volume of the year, and the trade balance for 2022 showed a deficit of US$ 466 million.
