The modernized EU-Chile agreements on wines and spirits, along with aromatized wines, have been enforced as of March 9. These agreements aim to enhance bilateral trade by providing comprehensive protection for wine and spirit names in two of the world's leading wine regions. They also ensure the compatibility of winemaking practices and certification between Europe and Chile. The updates include 405 wine terms, 105 spirits, and 1 aromatized wine from the EU, benefiting 1,573 wines and 235 spirits and aromatized wines from the EU, as well as 115 wines and 10 spirits and aromatized wines from Chile. These agreements are a significant step forward in facilitating rules-based trade between the EU and Chile, particularly as Chile begins the process of entering the Advanced Framework Agreement with the EU.
