The Commission for Licensing of Imports of Grain and Oilseeds in Moldova has ceased operations, marking the end of a 3-month licensing period for grain and oilseeds imports. This measure, introduced during a state of emergency, allowed for the import of certain crops to stabilize domestic prices and support local producers. A total of 12 licenses were issued, enabling the import of approximately 69.5 thousand tons of sunflower seeds and popcorn varieties not grown in Moldova. The licensing system was designed to benefit economic agents involved in animal husbandry, animal feed production, flour milling, and bakery and confectionery industries.
