A feasibility study is set to be conducted in Moldova from November 2022 to February 2023, supported by the USAID Farmer-to-Farmer Program and the Association of Producers and Exporters of Fruit 'Moldova Fruct', to transition apple orchards to an organic growing system. This initiative is aimed at alternative markets, including the EU, after difficulties in exporting to Russia due to embargos and conflicts. The study will encompass an analysis of the apple production sector, develop business models for organic apple and juice production, and provide insights from organic producers in Moldova and other countries. The country, being one of the top ten apple exporters globally, is looking to capitalize on the growing demand for organic apples and juices in the EU market.
