Moldovan authorities intend to discuss with the EU an increase in the duty-free euro quota for plum exports

Earlier, several organizations of agricultural producers addressed the Moldovan government with a proposal to initiate a dialogue with the EU structures on the next increase in export quotas (primarily for plums, but also for other types of fruit crops). The proposal was motivated by the fact that over the past five years, the volume of plum supplies to the European Union has increased significantly. The only exception was 2018, when a little more than 12 thousand tons of plums were supplied to the EU from Moldova (in 2017 - almost 20 thousand tons). However, already in 2019, the European export of Moldovan plums returned to the level of 20 thousand tons, in 2020 it amounted to more than 22 thousand tons. In 2021, according to preliminary data from the Moldovan customs service, about 27 thousand tons of plums were sent to the EU.
