Netherlands: More than half of consumption potatoes in Belgium

The Belgians have so far already acquired 383,000 tons of Dutch consumption and industrial potatoes. That is considerably more than the position at the end of April 2022. The export counter was then at 245,000 tonnes. Within the European Union (EU), France is also asking for more Dutch potatoes. In April, 12,000 tons went there. This brings the total to 52,000 tonnes this sales season. That is almost 50 percent more than the previous sales season up to and including the end of April, when the intermediate position was 35,000 tonnes. In terms of volume, the export to Germany, at 51,000 tonnes, is lagging behind the previous sales season. Up to and including April 2022, 60,000 tons had already left for the eastern neighbors. In April 2023, almost 8,000 tons of Dutch potatoes found their way to Germany. It is also notable that Spain bought a lot of Dutch potatoes this marketing season, which started in July 2022. This may have to do with the bone-dry Spanish growing season in 2022. ...
