In recent years, Morocco has increased sweet potato exports by an average of 67% per year and in 2022 the volume of deliveries doubled to a record 1200 tons. For comparison, in 2017 Morocco exported only 90 tons and a year later the export amounted to the lowest amount in recent years: 23 tons. 2022 became the first year in Morocco's history in which sweet potatoes were exported monthly without interruption. In addition, the country managed to extend the peak of exports, although it used to take place mainly in June-July. Morocco also started 2023 with a new record, sweet potato exports almost quadrupled to 130 tons in January! The geography of sweet potato exports from Morocco is also remarkable. Almost 100% of the exports in 2017 were delivered to the German market, but after that the supply practically stopped.
