Morocco, Spain’s leading supplier of cucumbers

The cucumber trade between Morocco and Spain continues to break records. Between January and September 2024, Spanish imports of Moroccan cucumbers reached an amount of 12.16 million euros, corresponding to an impressive volume of 9.39 million kilos. These imports represent 75.84% of the total cucumbers purchased by Spain during this period, according to a report by Hortoinfo. In just nine years, trade in this sector has grown spectacularly. In 2015, Spain imported 4.96 million kilos of cucumbers between January and September. This volume more than doubled in 2024, reaching 12.38 million kilos for a total value of 15.89 million euros, compared to 6.64 million euros in 2015. Morocco is establishing itself as Spain's main trading partner in this area. With a 212.5% increase in exported volumes since 2015, the Cherifian Kingdom confirms its strategic role in supplying this popular vegetable on the Spanish market.
