The National Bureau of Statistics reports a decrease in food prices in China since the start of the year. This is reflected in the prices of major foods such as fresh vegetables and pork. In Shouguang, Shandong, the large quantity of spring vegetables available has led to a decrease in vegetable prices, with the Shouguang Vegetable Price Index showing a 6.1% weekly drop and a 4.7% year-on-year decrease. Similarly, in Jiangxi, pork prices continue to fall and the stock of finished pigs is increasing, with the current selling price of live pigs at about 22 yuan per kilogram, which is 12 yuan lower than during the Spring Festival. The country's live pig stock remains above 400 million, with an expected increase in the number of live pigs in the first quarter of this year by 40% year-on-year.
