Data from the Russian Ministry of Agriculture shows that from January to July 2025, Russia's food exports to China have grown by 10%. Experts point out that the Chinese market has shown strong interest in Russian agricultural products and will continue to increase imports from Russia. Boris Titov, the Russian President's Special Representative for Sustainable Development Goals and Chairman of the Russian side of the Russia-China Committee on Friendship, Peace, and Development, stated at the opening ceremony of the 6th China-Russia SME Business Forum in Xi'an: "Over the past decade, Russia has risen from the 13th to the 8th position among China's agricultural product suppliers, with export amounts growing more than fourfold. Demand for categories such as dairy products and eggs, fish and seafood, meat products, sweets, and honey is particularly strong." The report states that strengthening economic and trade ties with China has opened up broad prospects for the development of Russia's agricultural sector, and this trend could also become a growth driver for Russia's Far East and Siberia regions. Irina Mironnova, Director of the Federal Development Program at the Skolkovo School of Management, noted that the arable land area in Siberia is actively expanding, and greenhouses in the Far East are flourishing. Data from the Russian Federal Statistics Service shows that in 2025, the agricultural sector's productivity increase will be highest in the Far Eastern Federal District, which borders China directly: the Primorsky Krai is expected to see an increase of 15%, and the Amur Oblast is expected to see an increase of 8.3%. Meanwhile, buckwheat production in the Khabarovsk Krai has increased by 1.2 times, reaching 830 tons. The report points out that Russia's position as a major agricultural product supplier to China provides an opportunity for qualitative leaps in Russia's agricultural sector and the Far East. To consolidate this achievement and improve profitability, the focus must shift from raw material exports to high value-added processed products.
