Myanmar Rice Planters' Association President U Khin Maung stated that starting in January of next year, "steamed rice" and white rice with a 5% broken rice rate of 6.22mm will be exported to the European Union market. He encouraged, "Please rest assured to plant high-yield, slender Amahta rice varieties for summer rice production." The Philippines, which has closed rice procurement for a year, also confirmed that starting from January of next year, a 20% tariff will be imposed on imported rice, and 3 million tons of rice will be purchased from rice exporting countries. Suggestions on the distribution of import quotas among importers will be further discussed by the Philippine Department of Agriculture and rice importers. Currently, Vietnam has secured a 50% share of total imports, and the Philippine government has proposed limiting this share to 40%. Myanmar Rice Planters' Association President U Khin Maung also stated that currently, China only purchases Dukha and Kyainma rice varieties, while farmers planting high-yield, slender Amahta rice varieties (for summer rice production) will gain access to new markets. According to data released by the Myanmar Rice Federation (MRF), in November, Myanmar successfully exported 81,441 tons of white rice with a 5% and 10% broken rice rate, as well as 3,403 tons of "steamed rice."
