Naju City in Jeollanam-do, South Korea has restarted exporting its local product, the seji melon, to Japan after a four-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The city has shipped 500kg of melons, worth 16 billion won annually, despite the small export volume. This success is part of ongoing efforts to expand the market for regionally specialized crops, supported by the Jeollanam-do Agricultural Research and Extension Services. The region's favorable climate, abundant sunlight, and fertile soil make it suitable for melon cultivation, with 80% of the nation's production coming from Naju.
