REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA — The National Food Agency (Bapanas) projects national sugar production in 2026 to reach 2.72 million tons due to strong initial stock and domestic production performance. This projection is the basis for the government's confidence in maintaining the national consumption sugar supply without relying on imports. Bapanas noted the carry-over stock of consumption sugar from 2025 to 2026 at 1.437 million tons. With this stock level, the national sugar availability is assessed to be able to support consumption needs for the first six months of 2026 with an assumption of monthly needs at 236,400 tons. "The government has decided that there is no need for the import of consumption sugar in 2026.
