The price of sheep's milk, declining since July 2024, registered a new drop in the past month of August, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Agriculture. The average stood at 1,228 euros/liter, which represents a drop of 13.34% compared to August 2024.
The decline continues despite the fact that production has been decreasing since the beginning of the year. In August, 40 million liters were declared, 5.15% less than in the same month last year.
As for the number of livestock farmers, it follows the same trend: 2,382 in August 2025, compared to 2,582 in August 2024, a decrease of 7.75%.
Goat milk production decreases
In the case of goat milk, production decreased in that month (32.4 million liters; -5.63%) and the number of livestock farmers also decreased (3,577; -8.09%).
However, the average price increased again: the average stood at 0.931 euros/liter in August, 9.14% more than a year earlier.
