The Arkansas Fruit Breeding Program has introduced a new yellow-fleshed nectarine variety, the Ozark Mango, which is resistant to bacteria and adapted to the warm, humid climate of the southern United States. The fruit, which has been under testing for over a decade, is noted for its sweetness, tropical flavor, and requirement of 600 to 800 hours of cold per year. It also exhibits resistance to certain production issues and can maintain its quality in storage for 14 to 21 days. The University of Arkansas offers licensing for this variety.
