Milk powder is New Zealand's top export, making up 14% of the nation's export earnings from May 2023 to April 2024, valued at PLN 24 billion. China is the largest buyer, accounting for PLN 7.17 billion or 30% of the revenue. Despite an 11% drop in dairy cow numbers from 2016 to 2023, New Zealand has diversified its markets, with notable exports to Algeria and Indonesia. A 2008 free trade agreement with China significantly boosted exports, though peak levels from the early 2020s have not been reached again.
