The Norwegian government has announced that China has approved the import of live snow crab from Norway, opening up a new market for Norway's seafood exports and supporting the development of the crab fishing industry in the Barents Sea. The Chinese market is the largest for live snow crabs, and Norway has increased its 2025 Barents Sea snow crab fishing quota by 23.5% to 12,725 tons, with 10% reserved for live snow crab exports. Norway and China are also discussing export cooperation on other live seafood products such as brown crabs, sea urchins, and oysters.
