A pricey seedless red grape variety called Ruby Roman, originally from Ishikawa Prefecture in Japan, has been accidentally leaked overseas and is now being sold in Korea. Despite its high cost, which reaches 1.5 million yen (about 14.2 million won) in Japan's domestic auctions, and its popularity in countries like Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Singapore since 2012, the grape's rights have not been registered in Korea. This means that no legal measures can be taken against its cultivation and propagation in the country. Ishikawa Prefecture's Governor, Hiroshi Hase, has requested cooperation from the Japanese Intellectual Property Office to acquire trademark rights in Korea to address this issue.
