Onion prices are falling in Ukraine

At the beginning of this week, a downward price trend started on the onion market in Ukraine, EastFruit analysts report. The main reason for the price drop in the segment was noticeably weaker demand and the systematic supply of onions from the countries of Central Asia. Onion prices in Ukraine have fallen by an average of 13% since the start of the week. Currently, Ukrainian farmers sell onions at 20-25 UAH/kg (€0.51-0.63/kg), depending on the quality, while minimum prices for onions did not fall below 23 UAH/kg (€0.58) last week /kg). The producers have been forced to lower their prices due to a noticeable drop in demand, as wholesalers and retail chains have stocked up before the New Year holidays and have not yet sold the available quantities.
