Bolivia's Ministry of Health has analyzed over 9,309 salt samples from salt companies and found that only 36% met the requirements for nutritional fortification with potassium iodate. Only 14 out of the total 1,164 sampled brands met the iodized salt nutritional fortification requirements, with six of these brands being from Oruro Province. The Ministry also surveyed flour brands and found that 10 Bolivian and 11 Argentine brands met the fortification requirements, preventing various health issues like anemia.
