As sustainable agriculture emerges as a global topic, carbon neutrality in the agricultural sector has become not a choice but a necessity. South Korea, under its 2030 Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% compared to 2018, is putting efforts into carbon neutrality across all sectors. There is a strong demand for expanding the agricultural sector's practical contributions. The Rural Development Administration's National Institute of Agricultural Sciences is launching a new research project this year called "Development of Low-Carbon Agricultural and Livestock Product Certification Methodology Linked to Greenhouse Gas Reduction Projects." This project covers the entire process from production to consumption of agricultural products.
