[Opinion] Low-Carbon Agricultural and Livestock Products Proven by 'Data'

As sustainable agriculture becomes a global topic, carbon neutrality in the agricultural sector is no longer optional but essential. South Korea, under its 2030 Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 40% compared to 2018, is striving for carbon neutrality across all sectors. The demand for substantial contributions from the agricultural sector is growing stronger. The Rural Development Administration's National Institute of Agricultural Sciences is launching a new research project this year titled "Development of Low-Carbon Agricultural and Livestock Product Certification Methodology Linked to Greenhouse Gas Reduction Projects." This project aims to scientifically verify the effects of low-carbon agricultural technologies using Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) techniques, analyzing the entire process from production to consumption, and establishing an international-standard Life Cycle Inventory Database (LCI DB).
