The new harvest season has started with great hopes in Denizli, a city that produces 75 percent of the world's and 85 percent of Turkey's thyme. The first thyme harvest was carried out in Belenardıç District of Pamukkale district of Denizli. Pamukkale Governor Uğur Bulut, Pamukkale Mayor Avni Örki, Denizli Provincial Director of Agriculture and Forestry Şakir Çınar, Deputy Provincial Director Saffet Üge, branch and district managers and technical personnel as well as farmers attended the harvest ceremony. Speaking at the harvest event, Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Director Şakir Çınar said, "While a significant part of the commercially traded thyme is collected from nature, significant changes have been experienced in thyme production, especially after the 2000s, when the type known as İzmir thyme was started in Denizli. Thyme production has been carried out on an area of 200 thousand decares and our districts Güney, Pamukkale, Buldan, Bekilli and Çal are the places where production is most intense.
