EU: Organic production and cages will be the focus of today's agriculture council

Today the EU Council of Agriculture Ministers meets in Brussels. It will be the first Council under the Slovenian presidency, so one of the topics to be discussed is the presentation of the work priorities of the Presidency. On its website, the Presidency has already published that some of its priorities in the agricultural sector will focus on organic farming, animal welfare, unfair practices in the food chain, labeling at origin (especially honey), pests and diseases, digitization of the veterinary service, PAC and forest policy. For this reason, two of the main points of today's meeting will be organic production and animal welfare. Regarding organic production, ministers are expected to approve the Council Conclusions on the EU Action Plan for the Development of Organic Production, which aims to realize the objective of the 'Farm to Farm' strategy.
