In 2023, Paraguay marked a significant achievement in its pork export sector, witnessing a 541% surge in exports to Taiwan, which now constitutes 90% of its total pork exports. This development, highlighted by the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Javier Giménez, positions Taiwan as Paraguay's largest pork market. The growth in exports is anticipated to bring substantial economic benefits, including the creation of around 25,000 jobs and an expected annual revenue of USD 100 million during the current government's tenure. Additionally, a Zero Tariff agreement on pork and 16 other products aims to boost Paraguay's competitiveness in the Taiwanese market, promising further economic growth and job opportunities.
