Paraguay's agricultural production saw an 11% increase in 2020, rebounding from a major drought in the previous year, with a total production volume of 26,270,000 tons. The recovery was primarily driven by a 24% increase in the production of semi-perennial crops like cassava and sugar cane. The country also saw higher production of soybeans, corn, wheat, rice, canola, sunflower, sesame, and other crops, leading to a 3% increase in the production of seven granary items compared to the previous season. The report was compiled using data from various sources including the Paraguayan Chamber of Exporters and Marketers of Cereals and Oilseeds (Capeco), the Institute of Agricultural Biotechnology (Inbio), Union of Production Guilds (UGP), Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAG), and the Central Bank of Paraguay (BCP).
