The National Service of Animal Health and Quality (Senacsa) reported that it will intensify alert and sanitary surveillance actions at the first control barriers such as airports, ports, and border checkpoints following the confirmation of an outbreak of African swine fever (ASF) in Spain. In this regard, they clarified that "it is important to highlight that the Republic of Paraguay maintains its status as a country free of this disease." The main way of entry into free zones occurs through direct contact with infected animals or through contaminated pork waste and products that are used as food for pigs (waste feeding).
