Pasta Production and Exports Are Growing in Russia

In January-April, Russian manufacturers produced over 0.5 million tons of pasta — 3% more than during the same period last year, the Ministry of Agriculture reported. According to Sergey Nemirovsky, executive director of the National Pasta Manufacturers Association, almost half of the total production volume consists of products made from durum wheat. According to the association's forecast, pasta production may grow annually by 1-2%. At the same time, redistribution will continue between segments within the product group: the share of durum wheat products will increase, which is associated with the trend towards a healthy lifestyle and rational nutrition. Durum wheat production in Russia has increased approximately 1.5 times over the past three years. According to Rosstat, in 2024 its gross harvest was 2.1 million tons — 0.6 million tons more than in 2023, and the sown area expanded by 300,000 hectares, to approximately 1.2 million hectares.
