As of May 31, 2022, peanut stocks in commercial storage significantly increased to 3.22 billion pounds from 2.90 billion pounds a year earlier. The stocks consist of 2.42 billion pounds of actual farmer stock and 764 million pounds of shelled peanuts. Edible grade stocks made up 575 million pounds, with 88.8 million pounds of Virginias and Valencias, 431 million pounds of Runners, and 29.2 million pounds of Spanish. In May, millings totaled 399 million pounds, and commercial processors used 200 million pounds of shelled edible grade peanuts. Deliveries under the Government Domestic Feeding and Child Nutrition Programs reached 1.76 million pounds of peanut butter and 77.8 thousand pounds of roasted peanuts. However, treated seed stocks saw a decrease to 12.7 million pounds from 37.0 million pounds in April.
