P.E.I. Potato Board loses court battle over seed potato export ban in Canada

The Prince Edward Island Potato Board in Canada is claiming partial victory, after losing its court battle to lift the export ban on seed potatoes, as Brian Higgins reports for the CBC. The potato board argued in a hearing last month that the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) overstepped its authority when it issued the ban, placed in response to the outbreak of potato wart two years ago. The Federal Court of Canada has now issued a written decision, denying the potato board’s request for a judicial review.
