In May 2024, Peruvian asparagus exports saw a notable decline, with a 22% drop in volume and a 19% decrease in value compared to the previous year. Despite a 4% rise in average price, total exports were 7,055 tons worth US$ 23.4 million. The primary markets were the United States, Spain, and Germany, with the US taking 62% of the exports. The US experienced an 18% drop in volume but only a 5% decrease in value due to a 16% price increase. Spain's imports fell by 8% in both volume and value, while Germany's imports plummeted by 42% in volume and 40% in value. France and Japan had the most significant declines, with reductions of 78% and 75%, respectively.
