In the first quarter of 2024, Peru's ginger exports saw a significant increase, reaching 8,453 tons and earning over USD 22.6 million in revenue. The United States, the Netherlands, Canada, and Germany were the primary markets, accounting for 92% of the total supply. There was a notable 49% increase in exports to the United States and a 14% increase to Germany compared to the previous year. Peru's consistent growth in ginger exports over the past five years has been driven by the high quality of its ginger and its constant availability, making it a favored source in periods of low production in China and India. Organic ginger exports from Peru accounted for over 60% of the total ginger exports, highlighting the demand for this quality in the international market.
