In 2023, Peru's passion fruit exports saw an 11% increase, reaching US$ 66 million 932 thousand, and placing the country as the 10th largest global supplier and 3rd in Latin America and the Caribbean. Despite this growth, a significant decrease of -9.8% was observed from January to May due to climatic issues, new pests, and diseases. However, there are efforts underway to develop a new commercial variety of passion fruit that could improve productivity and quality. The II International Congress of Passionflowers of Peru highlighted the challenges and opportunities in the exotic fruit industry, with a focus on the potential of by-products and the role of public-private collaborations in enhancing farming practices and productivity.
