Avocado exports were booming in 2021 for Peru, which sent over 525,000 tons of product abroad. According to the president of the consulting firm Inform @ cción, Fernando Cillóniz Benavides, 525,829 tons of avocados were exported from Peru in 2021, worth over a billion dollars (1,050,664,197 dollars to be exact). These figures show an increase of 28.2% in volume and 39% in value compared to the 410 thousand tons shipped in 2020, for a value of 755.8 million dollars. The main destination markets were the Netherlands, the United States, Spain, and Chile. These countries together accounted for 358,000 tons, 68% of the total volume exported. Over the course of 2021, the Netherlands imported 180,000 tons of Peruvian avocados. The United States imported 90,000 tons, Spain 88,000, and Chile 71,500. Other markets were: the United Kingdom with 38,000 tons, Russia with 11,000 tons, China with 14,000 tons.
