The article reports on the high production costs for pigs and chicken in Brazil in 2022, as calculated by Embrapa's Central de Inteligência de Aves e Suínos (CIAS). The pig production cost per kilogram reached a record R$ 8.07, leading to a new high for the Índice de Custo de Produção de suínos (ICPSuíno), while chicken production cost per kilogram in Paraná, raised in climate-controlled pressurized cages, increased to R$ 5.54 in December, contributing to a 6.19% increase in the ICPFrango over the year. These costs are crucial for the productive sector, with the CIAS using data from Santa Catarina and Paraná, the country's leading pig and chicken producers, respectively. Producers can use the free electronic spreadsheet developed by Embrapa to manage their costs. An app, Custo Fácil, is also available for Android users to generate dynamic farm reports.
