Ukraine has banned the import of pigs from the EU due to the spread of African swine fever (ASFV) in Member States, the Ivano-Frankivsk department of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection (SSUFSCP) reports on Facebook. Under the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) information, ASFV cases have been reported in the European Union, including in the Slovak Republic, Romania, Latvia, Estonia, Bulgaria and Hungary. In accordance with the requirements of current national and international legislation and in order to prevent the spread of the ASFV pathogen in Ukraine, the orders of the Chief State Veterinary Inspector of Ukraine ban imports into Ukraine of the following goods from the above-mentioned countries: animals belonging to pig family (Suidae), peccaries (Tayassuidae) and tapirs (Tapiridae), genetic material and products from it (excl. products processed in accordance with the Requirements on import into the customs territory of Ukraine of live ...
