The Regional Directorate of Agriculture of Piura put into operation the El Corral reservoir, located in the hamlet of Mexico in Cujaca, district and province of Ayabaca, as part of the Public Investment Project “Improvement of irrigation water service through the installation of reservoirs in the provinces of Huancabamba, Ayabaca, and Morropón”. This infrastructure has a storage capacity of 1400 cubic meters of water and directly benefits 35 families dedicated to the cultivation of sugarcane, corn, cassava, grasses, and fruit trees. The commissioning of the El Corral reservoir will improve access to irrigation water in an area with a high dependence on agricultural activity, ensuring greater availability of water resources and better conditions for production, especially during periods of drought.
