Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food Minister Luis Planas highlighted this Monday the essential role of the primary sector in mitigating and adapting to climate change. "Persistent droughts, forest fires, storms, and heatwaves are altering our territories and our lives," Planas warned, emphasizing that "farmers, ranchers, and fishermen are key to the functioning of our society" and to ensuring the food security of the population. In his address at the convention "For a State Pact Against the Climate Emergency" inaugurated today in Ponferrada (León), Luis Planas explained that the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Food is already working on proposals aligned with the ten priority commitments, in addition to one specific to the fishing and aquaculture sector.
