Poland has seen a surge in African swine fever (ASF) outbreaks, reaching record highs with more cases reported this year than in 2018. Since 2014, the disease has affected agriculture more severely than any other year. As of 2021, 110 cases have been reported, with concerns for the industry's welfare, especially among small farms. The number of cases is expected to rise further by year-end, despite the usual seasonal decline. The recent outbreak involved a small farm with around 30 animals, and concerns have been raised due to the presence of numerous other farms in the vicinity, posing a threat to a large number of pigs.
