The Ponta Grossa region in Paraná, Brazil, is set to become the leading area for barley production, with planting beginning earlier than usual, marking a shift from the traditional production center in Guarapuava. This change is attributed to the establishment of Maltaria Campos Gerais, the largest malt factory in Latin America, expected to produce 240 thousand tons of malt per year. Despite a projected 16% reduction in the total barley-cultivation area in Paraná, the Ponta Grossa region is set to expand by 10%. The region also leads in chicken meat exports in Brazil, with China, the United Arab Emirates, Japan, Saudi Arabia, and South Africa as the main destinations. Additionally, Paraná is a significant producer of kiwis, with a Gross Production Value of R$15.2 million from 2,600 tons produced on 200 hectares.
