Premium Rice Returns to Retail, Price Drops to Rp 73,500 per 5 Kg
The Ministry of Agriculture is optimistic that rice prices are becoming more controlled with the distribution by Bulog and SPHP.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Premium rice is starting to return to the retail market after previously being withdrawn due to quality standard violations. However, the supply is still limited and distribution is not yet even across all regions. General Chairman of the Indonesian Retail Businessmen Association (Aprindo), Solihin, said that producers have started sending the latest rice production since August 2025. According to him, some retailers are still displaying old stock that has not yet been returned. Some producers have actually requested returns, but the replacement with new products is still pending. "Our hope is that the new production truly meets the premium quality so that the supply will be stable again. Quality must be maintained because premium rice has been a mainstay for consumers," said Solihin, Friday (22/8/2025).
