The Indonesian government is working to increase the value and competitiveness of domestic agricultural products through a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ministry of Industry and the Ministry of Agriculture. The collaboration aims to boost production, quality, and added value of agricultural products as industrial raw materials, and to increase the expertise of agricultural human resources and business partnerships. The agro industry is crucial to the national economy, with exports reaching USD29.27 billion in the January-August 2020 period. However, a significant portion of raw materials and supporting materials for the industry are still imported. To enhance the sector's performance, the Ministry of Industry is focusing on improving the efficiency of the value chain, bringing the agricultural and agro-industrial sectors closer to Industry 4.0 technology, and increasing the production of modern agro-industry.
