The Ministry of Agriculture in Egypt is taking steps to cultivate high-economic value palms, with a focus on dates. The government is planning to establish the world's largest date farm in the New Valley, spanning 37,000 acres and hosting 2.3 million palm trees. The initial phase of the project has seen the planting of 1.5 million superior date palm trees, with the remaining 800,000 expected to be planted soon. The farm is expected to produce approximately 230,000 tons of dates annually. The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) has highlighted the strategic importance of the date crop in Egypt and has launched a program to develop the palm and dates sector through a training program for date producers.
