The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries and the Korea Coast Guard will conduct a special inspection of the country of origin labeling of imported marine products jointly between the private and public sectors for two months from this month to June 30. In the meantime, the special inspection of the country of origin of marine products has been mainly conducted during holidays, kimchi-making season, and vacation seasons, when consumption of seafood increases. However, as social interest and concerns about seafood safety have increased due to Japan's plans to release contaminated water from nuclear power plants recently, this special inspection was conducted to ensure that the public can purchase seafood safely.
