The PSD/Azores da Terceira party is advocating for the preservation of the Ramo Grande bovine breed, the only indigenous breed in the Region, which has been negatively impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. The party has reached out to the Regional Legislative Assembly to request support for the breed, highlighting its historical significance and cultural importance to the islands. The Ramo Grande breed, originally brought to the islands from Mainland Portugal, has been used for agricultural work and transportation for centuries and has been kept mainly for educational and ethnographic purposes in recent decades. The PSD is also inquiring about the official registration of the breed and noting the economic benefits it provided by being exported to other islands in the archipelago.
