India: Punjab to export green chili to avoid market glut

The horticulture department in Punjab is finally addressing the vegetable price crisis in the state. It is seeking ways to intervene to prevent a chili glut in the market. Horticulture minister Chetan Singh Jouramajra chaired a meeting with the officials in this regard. The meeting discussed ways to promote green chili cultivation in Punjab by standardizing its quality, marketing, and processing, said an official. A proposal to open controlled atmosphere stores in various parts of Punjab was also considered. It also sought to export chili out of Punjab to avoid an oversupply.
